Valentine’s Day Balloon Bouquets

The annual Valentine’s Balloon Bouquet Sale is underway! Each bouquet has two regular balloons and a mylar balloon with a decorative weight. Each bouquet costs $5 and will be delivered directly to the Resident’s room.

A sign-up sheet will be available in the Hobby Room or you may call in to sign up. Please have your orders in by Friday, February 11th. Delivery date will be Monday, February 14th.

VISITATION PLAN-UPDATED 12/03/2021

Please take some time to review the visitation plan as updates have been made.  Listed below are our visitation guidelines to follow. Enjoy your visit!

  • It is strongly recommended, though not required, that all visitors be vaccinated. Due to Mercer County’s substantial/high levels of community transmission, it is also recommended that visitors test 2-3 days prior to their visit.  For further education on these steps, please contact Infection Preventionist Kelly Hoover.
  • Visitation should be postponed if you have a positive viral test for COVID-19 in the last 10 days, if you are currently experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or if you have been around anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days regardless of your vaccination status. Day 0 is the first day of symptoms or day of test if asymptomatic.  Please note this is the minimum amount of time. You should be asymptomatic and have no fever without taking fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours prior to visiting.
  • Visitors must temp and complete the COVID-19 screening prior to visiting a Resident. If the visitor has a temperature of 100.00°F or higher or answers yes to any of the COVID-19 screening questions, visitation will need to be postponed.
  • It is not required to schedule your visit ahead of time. However, if you would still like to schedule your visit, please contact the Receptionist at 724-458-7760.
  • Visitors may visit at any time for any length of stay, as long as the Resident chooses.
  • Visitors will physically distance themselves from other Residents and staff in the facility. Visitation should occur in the Resident room, designated visitation room located on 200 Hall, or an outdoor area so long as physical distancing can be maintained. Visitation should NOT occur in common areas, (i.e.-solariums, hallways, great room, dining room, entrance area, etc.)
  • Large gatherings (parties, events) are to be avoided as a large number of visitors in the same space at the same time may cause physical distancing to be unattainable.
  • Due to Mercer County’s COVID-19 community level of transmission being substantial/ high, all visitors, regardless of vaccination status, should wear face coverings or masks and it is recommended that physical distancing (6 feet) should occur at all times. Residents should wear masks at all times unless unable to tolerate.
  • Support persons for individuals with disabilities and visitors participating in certain religious practices, including in end-of-life situations may choose to have physical touch based on their preferences and needs. If the Resident is unvaccinated, the visitor  should be advised of the risks of physical contact prior to the visit.
  • In-room visitation may take place if the Resident has a private room, or if the Resident’s roommate is able to leave the room for the duration of the visit. If a Resident’s roommate is unvaccinated or immunocompromised (regardless of vaccination status) visits should not be conducted in the Resident’s room, if possible. For situations where there is a roommate and the health status of the Resident prevents leaving the room, Orchard Manor will attempt to enable in-room visitation while adhering to the core principles of infection prevention.
  • Hand hygiene should be performed prior to and after the visit. Please limit unnecessary touching of surfaces.
  • Visitors may bring food and beverages into the facility for the Resident to have at a later time after visit has ended. However, the visitor may NOT dine with the Resident as this would require removal of masks.
  • While it is not recommended, Residents who are on transmission-based precautions (TBP) or quarantine can still receive visitors. The visit will occur in the Resident’s room and the Resident should wear a well fitted face mask (if tolerated).
  • As a reminder, virtual or window visits may always be scheduled through activities or social services.
  • If at any time the CORE PRINCIPLES (See below) of COVID-19 infection prevention are not followed, the visit will immediately cease and visitations may not be permitted to occur again.
  • Visitors should continue to monitor for signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days after their visit. If symptoms occur, the visitor should contact Orchard Manor’s Infection Preventionist or Director of Nursing with the date of your visit and the name of the Resident you visited.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

KEY DEFINITIONS:

  • FULLY VACCINATED:  Fully vaccinated refers to a person who is ≥ 14 days following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥ 14 days following receipt of one dose of a single dose vaccine, per the CDC’s Public Health Recommendations for Vaccinated Persons.
  • UNVACCINATED:  Individuals who do not meet ALL standards of the FULLY vaccinated definition above.

CORE PRINCIPLES OF COVID-19 INFECTION CONTROL:

  • Visitors who have a positive viral test for COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine, should not enter the facility. Facilities should screen all who enter for these visitation exclusions.
  • Hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred)
  • Face covering or mask (covering mouth and nose) and physical distancing at least six feet between people, in accordance with CDC guidance
  • Instructional signage throughout the facility and proper visitor education on COVID-19 signs and symptoms, infection control precautions, other applicable facility practices (e.g., use of face covering or mask, specified entries, exits and routes to designated areas, hand hygiene)
  • Cleaning and disinfecting high-frequency touched surfaces in the facility often, and designated visitation areas after each visit
  • Appropriate staff use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Effective co-horting of Residents (e.g., separate areas dedicated to COVID-19 care)
  • Resident and staff testing conducted as required at 42 CFR § 483.80(h) (see QSO20- 38-NH)

INDOOR VISITATION DURING AN OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION-An outbreak exists when a new nursing home onset of COVID-19 occurs (i.e., a new COVID-19 case among Residents or staff). When a new case of COVID-19 among Residents or staff is identified, Orchard Manor will immediately begin outbreak testing. While it is safer for visitors not to enter the facility during an outbreak investigation, visitors are still allowed in the facility. Visitors will be made aware of the potential risk of visiting during an outbreak investigation via posted signs at the entrance doors.  Visitors should adhere to the core principles of infection prevention. If Residents or their representative would like to have a visit during an outbreak investigation, they should wear face coverings or masks during visits, regardless of vaccination status and county transmission rate, and visits should ideally occur in the Resident’s room.

NOTE: In all cases, visitors will be notified about the potential for COVID-19 exposure in the facility (appropriate signage regarding current outbreaks within front lobby area), and adhere to the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention, including effective hand hygiene and use of face-coverings.
